August 2019 Club Minutes

August 2019 Club Minutes

Minutes of the Meeting of the Bradford Flower Club held on Monday 19th August 2019 at Haworth Road Methodist Church:

Members and Guests were given a very warm welcome. It was noted that the club was making its own history tonight as it had its first ever August Meeting.

Good news was given to Club Members. Firstly, Lisette had agreed to give the secretary role a go. Secondly Catherine Slack had joined the Committee. Both were presented with their badges.
Ann Drake felt she was unable to attend Committee meetings but had volunteered to help on a Monday night. So you may see her in many roles.

There was a slightly new look to our sales table tonight. Members were informed that this year they would see more ‘one off tables ‘with a different theme each month as the club would try to bring a few different ideas for members to see and hopefully be tempted to buy. Oasis and most basic mechanics will as always be available for anyone doing Church Flowers, demos, festivals or just your own arrangements.

Next month the theme will be garden remains. Members were asked if they had any cuttings or garden produce to please bring them along so we can raise funds for the club.

You would have seen that the welcome table was very busy tonight. We had people registering for the new season with the club. Schedules for the forthcoming months were also available. Members were also given a revised set of Club Rules following our AGM and the voted changes made to our old rules. Ann was also available to take any orders for the Flower Arranger and Diaries.

A few diary dates were given:
13th -15th September is the Harrogate Autumn Show. No club formal visit is planned but I am sure there will be plenty to see and worth a visit.

16th November is the NE area AGM at Queen Elizabeth School Wakefield. The AGM starts at 11o’clock with coffee from 10 am. This is free. Lunch and an afternoon demonstration by Ian Lloyd will follow the AGM. Ian’s demo has the title Natures Christmas. The cost for the demo and lunch is £25.

Then on the 28th November Steeton FC are having Vanessa Wellock to demonstrate with her title Magic and Sparkle at the Rendezvous Hotel Keighley Road Skipton. Entry fee to include refreshment is £10.00.

Following the notices members were asked to give a very warm welcome to Susan Fairhurst. Susan was thanked for coming once again to the Bradford Flower Club and that we appreciated it. The last time Susan was demonstrating at the Club was in Sept 2015, so it was time for another visit. Her title was ‘Creativity.’ Susan demonstrated various arrangements with the stage looking full and colourful. Catherine Slack gave the vote of thanks.

Members were invited to the blue room for tea /coffee and informed that the next meeting would be on the 16th September when we would be entertained by Ann Simpson with her title ‘Willow wood and wine’. Members were wished a goodnight and a safe journey home.

The meeting closed at 9.10
