{"id":305,"date":"2011-05-20T15:12:36","date_gmt":"2011-05-20T14:12:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.bradfordflowerclub.org.uk\/?p=305"},"modified":"2011-12-30T15:16:36","modified_gmt":"2011-12-30T14:16:36","slug":"may-2011-club-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.bradfordflowerclub.org.uk\/?p=305","title":{"rendered":"May 2011 Club Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Minutes of the Meeting of the Guest Evening of the Bradford Flower Club held on Monday 16<sup>th<\/sup> May 2011 at Haworth Road Methodist Church:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A warm welcome was given by the Chairman to The Lady Mayoress Mrs Gillian Hall, Club Members and guests to the May Guest Evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Membership renewals were available from Vivienne Midgley on the evening. Any uncollected forms would be posted out.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Minutes of the April meeting were on the notice board and would be signed after the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Members were encouraged to put their names down for a workshop at Bolton Villas on the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> July lead by Eileen Barraclough. The cost would be \u00a312.00. Further details would be available from Eileen at a later date.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Places were still available on the coach to Poppleton House Garden on the 8<sup>th<\/sup> June. This was the home of Kath Dogget who had been one of our guest demonstrators. The cost would be \u00a318.00 to include coach, entry and refreshments.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Members were thanked for supporting the cake stall. Proceeds were to go to the Lords Mayor\u2019s appeal for Nell Bank.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<em>Looking back through our club notes at our May meeting last year the Chairman was late due to being delayed by the volcanic ash. Going further back to the 16<sup>th<\/sup> May 2005 Sheila Clark was in the Chair, the club meeting was at Haworth Road and the Lord Mayor and Miss Margaret Peet the Area Chairman were our guests. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Eileen Barraclough had obtained a second and a highly commended at Harrogate Show. (she had done even better this year as we heard last month winning best in show)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Preview tickets were available for a Flower Festival on the 1<sup>st<\/sup> July 2005. They cost \u00a36.50 but unfortunately there were no details of where the festival was being held. Members were asked if they could fill in the gap? <\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Also our Club Rules had been revised and updated and members were asked to approve the changes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><em>Our demonstrator that evening was John Chennell with his title Seasonal Spender and Margaret gave the vote of thanks.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A very warm welcome was then given to Mr Arthur MacDonald and his title was \u2018Purely for Pleasure\u2019.The Vote of Thanks was given by Mrs Gillian Hill.<\/p>\n<p>A cheque for \u00a3100.00 was then presented to Gillian for Nell Bank. The cake stall making around \u00a345.00 towards this amount.<\/p>\n<p>All were then thanked for attending. The next meeting would be on the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">20<sup>th<\/sup> June <\/span>\u00a0when our speaker would be Anne Drake with her title Faberge Jeweller to the Tsar.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0All were invited to have a cup of tea or coffee before leaving and asked to take care and arrive home safely and once again encouraged to put their names down for the trip and workshop.
