2011 Club Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>THE BRADFORD FLOWER CLUB<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>MINUTES OF THE CLUB MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 17 October 2011<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a01\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">In <\/span><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Attendance<\/span> \u2013 there were 78 members in attendance and 21 guests.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a02 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the absence of the Chair, Gwyneth Priestley chaired the meeting and extended a warm welcome to members, guests and anyone attending the meeting for the first time.\u00a0 Members from Steeton Flower Club and Spen Valley Flower Club were also warmly welcomed.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Gwyneth was pleased to advise that the Lord Mayor, Councillor Naveeda Ikram has agreen to be our patron but unfortunately was unable to attend.\u00a0 She hopes to join us for our Christmas demonstration in December.\u00a0 However a special welcome was given to the Deputy Lord Mayor, Valerie Slater who was representing the Lord Mayor on this occasion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Yvonne had sent a big thank you to Gwyneth for chairing the meeting as hopefully she will be recovering from a weekend rallying on the glorious island of Mull off the west coast of Scotland.\u00a0 She was very disappointed to be missing the evening as she anticipated a fabulous night.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a03\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The Chair made the following announcements:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Health and Safety<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Members were asked to familiarise themselves with the fire regulations which are on display in the reception area.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In case of emergency our exits are the two doors at the front and one at the back that leads into the car park.<\/li>\n<li>Our first aider tonight is Sue Hawkins<\/li>\n<li>Mobile phones to be switched off so as not to distract the meeting and affect our PA system.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Workshop<\/span> \u2013 Some places are remaining for the workshop on 12 November at St Martyrs Church in Heights Lane led by Muriel.\u00a0 This will start at 10.30am as Brownies are having a sleep over on Friday night.\u00a0 Members were asked to take a packed lunch \u2013 tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.\u00a0 A clip board was circulated and members asked to make sure their contact details were given to Sally to pass on to Muriel so she could post out an instruction leaflet.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Photographic Competition<\/span> \u2013 photos to be handed in tonight.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Calendars and Diaries<\/span> \u2013 Orders for calendars and diaries to be given to Jean as this was the last chance to order.\u00a0 4 copies of the recent issue of Flower Arranger had been sent by our Area Chair \u2013 purchase price \u00a32 for anyone who does not received this on a regular basis.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">National\/Area News<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Chair hoped that members who attended the NAFAS National Show in Torquay from 22-24 September had enjoyed their visit.\u00a0 The Chair was proud to announce that Eileen Barraclough won a Highly Commended.\u00a0 Well done to Eileen.<\/p>\n<p>Next Year the National Show is being held in Southport which will be much nearer for us to attend.<\/p>\n<p>The NAFAS AGM was on 12 October at Shrewsbury.<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday 18 October Jonathan Mosely is giving a special evening demonstration for club members at Country Baskets.\u00a0 Norma has the last 2 tickets \u2013 cost \u00a34.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The Area AGM is on 19 November at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School Wakefield.\u00a0 The AGM is followed by a luncheon and a demonstration by Vanessa Wellock.\u00a0 Tickets for the lunch and demonstration are \u00a312.\u00a0 The AGM is free.<\/p>\n<p>Area Council meeting was on Saturday 15 October.<\/p>\n<p>4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Club Minutes<\/span> \u2013 minutes for September and October will be on the notice board at the next meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a05\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Flower Market<\/span> \u2013 the chair announced that the flower market has moved.\u00a0 It is now located higher up Wakefield Road.\u00a0 The market will now sell floral foam.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a06\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Demonstrator<\/span> \u2013 The Chair extended a warm welcome to Jonathan Moseley with his title \u2018Festooned with Flowers\u2019.\u00a0 This was a fabulous demonstration with lovely flowers.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a07\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Vote of Thanks<\/span> \u2013 Margaret Holmes gave the vote of thanks.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a08\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Flower Pick<\/span> was done by Jonathan Mosely.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a09\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The chair thanked the meeting for their attendance.\u00a0 The next meeting is on the 21 November with Andrew Mason and his title \u2018Dreaming of a White Christmas\u2019.\u00a0 Members were reminded that the registration fee includes refreshments which are available in the tea room and hoped that members and guests would partake.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Members were wished a safe journey home.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The demonstration finished at
