car parking is available in the Haworth Road Health Centre car park at owners\u2019 risk.\u00a0 Expected arrival time at home 7.30pm<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Chelsea<\/span> \u2013 Chair congratulated Eileen Barraclough on her silver-guilt award.\u00a0 Eileen will bring photos for the Club to view at a future meeting<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">National Show Southport<\/span> \u2013 12-14 July<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">9 <\/span>August \u2013 Photography Day at Strensall Village Hall \u2013 cost \u00a315 to include slide show and practical demonstration.<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Harrogate Autumn Show \u2013 14 \u2013 16 September <\/span>\u00a0&#8211; schedules are on the notice board<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">7 October \u2013 Members\u2019 Day at Joseph Rowntree School<\/span> \u2013 cost \u00a320<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">24<sup>th<\/sup> October<\/span> is the National AGM in London<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">17<sup>th<\/sup> November is the Area AGM<\/span> at Queen Elizabeth School in Wakefield.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Demonstrators<\/span> \u2013 Chair welcomed our speaker Tony Cleaver.\u00a0 Tony gave an entertaining and informative slide show of \u2018Northern Gardens\u2019 with beautiful pictures of gardens in all seasons.\u00a0 These were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Harlow Carr, Harrogate<\/span> \u2013 an RHS garden.\u00a0 Tony started the slide show with the winter season with snow covered walks and foliage<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Burton Agnes Hall<\/span> \u2013 an amazing display of snowdrops in the woodland walk<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Renishaw Hall<\/span> \u2013 Italianate garden set out in 1895 by Sir Geroge Sitwell and beautiful woodland bluebell walks.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Tatton Park<\/span> \u2013 an Italian Garden, Japanese Garden with watchtower, walled kitchen garden, maze etc<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Levens Hall, Cumbria <\/span>\u00a0\u2013 Grade 1 Listed 1694 Topiary Garden \u2013 amazing shapes of all sizes and orchard<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Otteringon Hall, Thirsk<\/span> \u2013 1926 Topiary Garden \u2013 also walled garden with fruit trees and rose garden<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sizergh Castle<\/span> \u2013 \u00a0National Trust &#8211; formal Dutch garden and limestone rockery<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Washington Old Hall, County Durham<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">National Trust<\/span> \u2013 George Washington\u2019s ancestral home now owned by the National Trust with Jacobean Gardens<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Crook Hall, Durham City<\/span> \u2013 13<sup>th<\/sup> Century Grade 1 Listed Medieval Hall \u2013 themed gardens, walled garden, Shakespeare garden<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Alnwick Castle<\/span> \u2013 lots of fountains and water features, poison garden, ornamental garden \u2013 Tony was not impressed at the cost of entry!<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Sledmere House<\/span> \u2013 lovely reminder of spring with the daffodil display \u2013 also walled garden, exotic flower border in summer<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Burnby Hall, Pocklington<\/span> \u2013 National collection of hardy water lilies and secret garden<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Middlethorpe Hall<\/span> \u2013 walled garden, rose garden, maze of small gardens.\u00a0 Tony recommended visiting for a coffee or afternoon tea and then enjoy exploring the garden.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The photos were beautifully presented with a variety of scenes from borders to individual flowers.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Helen Reynolds gave the vote of thanks<\/p>\n<p>4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Flower Dip<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The following ladies received flowers in the flower dip<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Joyce Bonham<\/p>\n<p>2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Norma Dobney<\/p>\n<p>3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 A Lockwood<\/p>\n<p>4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Shahid<\/p>\n<p>5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Wendy Elliott<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Vivienne Midgley was thanked for obtaining the lovely flower bouquets.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>5\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Next Meeting<\/span> \u2013 9 July \u2013 The demonstrator will be Kathleen Williams not Karen Schofield as advertised on the programme.\u00a0 It was agreed to hold a Strawberry Supper as last year.<\/p>\n<p>6\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The meeting closed at 9.00pm and guests were invited to have some refreshments and wished a safe journey home.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE BRADFORD FLOWER CLUB MINUTES OF THE CLUB MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 18 JUNE 2012 AT HAWORTH ROAD METHODIST CHURCH &nbsp;
