Meeting 2015"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&#8216;It&#8217;s that time of year again&#8217; a\u00a0flower demonstration by Marie Harris and Muriel Spencer Willcock<br \/>\nMonday 14th December at 7.30pm with refreshments following the demonstration<br \/>\nHaworth Road Methodist Church<\/p>\n<p>MINUTES OF THE CLUB MEETING HELD ON MONDAY 14th DECEMBER 2015 AT HAWORTH ROAD METHODIST CHURCH<\/p>\n<p>1\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Attendance: there were 72 members and 4 guests in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>2\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chair welcomed everyone to the meeting and anticipated it would be fun packed and hoped everyone would join in the fuddle after the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>3\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Correspondence and Notices \u2013\u00ad\u00ad\u00ad<br \/>\n\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Chair reported on the workshop held on Saturday 28 November which was very well attended with old and new members.\u00a0 Thanks were given to Pat Trueman for the wonderful ideas for Christmas.\u00a0 Everyone went home with two beautiful displays.\u00a0 The feedback from attendees was that Pat had done a great demonstration and especially for explaining how to create and improve our designs.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Table Top Sale \u2013 The Methodist Church is holding a table top sale on 30 January between 10am and 12 noon.\u00a0 The Flower Club will be having a table and chair asked for volunteers to help on the table as she will be at Area meeting.\u00a0 Chair also asked for donations of any unwanted items to sell \u2013 to bring them to the January meeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Christmas Card Table \u2013 Chair asked members to make sure the full name of the recipient is on all cards as we have been left with cards in the past when a single Christian name is on the card.<\/p>\n<p>4\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Demonstrators \u2013 Chair welcomed the demonstrators for the evening \u2013 our own Marie Harris and Muriel Spencer Wilcock with their title \u2018It\u2019s that Time of Year Again\u2019.\u00a0 The stage had been prepared with a Christmas hanging and two triangular Christmas trees made from branches.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Muriel introduced the demonstration with a \u2018panto\u2019 theme and her first contribution was \u2018Puss in Boots\u2019.\u00a0 A small square pot was used with upright willow twigs and into this Muriel placed red dragon stems in an upright position in between the branches.\u00a0 Flowers used were a pale gerbera, red chrysanthemums, and a final touch of a twisty rope made of jigsaw pieces.\u00a0 Fatsia leaves were placed around the base.\u00a0 The arrangement was finally placed next to \u2018Jack and his cat\u2019 and Marie brought another arrangement to complement Muriel\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>B\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marie demonstrated next with her \u2018Cinderella\u2019 theme.\u00a0 An open bamboo cage in the shape of a coach was used with oasis and greenery (eucalyptus, conifer) in the centre and on the top.\u00a0 White carnations were brought out horizontally from the top with cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me roses, pale gerbera and two beautiful white orchids were the final touch, creating a magical interpretation of Cinderella\u2019s coach.\u00a0 A glass slipper finished the display.<\/p>\n<p>C\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Alladdin was the next theme which Muriel arranged in a bronze bowl with greenery coming out from the sides and white cala lilies placed upright in the container with two curled around the bottom.\u00a0 Pale gerbera and cream roses were used and green button chrysanthemums for infill.\u00a0 Marie produced a second arrangement and the two were placed on a table decorated with golden towers, cushions and a lamp.<\/p>\n<p>D\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Marie\u2019s last display was created using a large upright bleached piece of wood with mechanics on the top (fatsias, fern, viburnum with white flower heads and broom.\u00a0 This was to represent \u2018The Goose that Laid the Golden Egg\u2019.\u00a0 Purple Liatris, Captain Nemo (purple) Cala Lilies, and a lovely red rose (freedom).\u00a0 Silver baubles were added and a bowl of golden eggs.\u00a0 Muriel placed a second arrangement to compliment the first.<\/p>\n<p>The demonstrators then lit up the stage with fairy lights to create a magical Christmas staging.\u00a0 Margaret Holmes gave the vote of thanks.<\/p>\n<p>E\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Flower Dip\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 flowers.<\/p>\n<p>F\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0The meeting closed at 9.05 and members were invited to share in the lovely spread of food. Chair announced the next meeting will be held on 18 January 2016 when Tony Cleaver and Peter Mathers will give their talk entitled \u2018A Taste of Summer\u2019.
