Bradford Flower Club is pleased to welcome you to an updated website. The website was originally introduced in December 2010 thanks to a Grant the Club received from the National Lottery Awards For All .
The new 2019 -20 season at the club also sees a few changes. For the first time in the club’s history we had a meeting in August. Traditionally it had been thought that members would be busy holidaying and with family commitments. This proved not to be the case with the good attendance we saw on the 19th August. The evening was wonderful and warm with members wearing their colourful summer outfits instead of the usual coats boots etc we have to wear.
Bradford Flower Club still has its usual full programme of demonstrations and speakers planned for the third Monday of the Month (with the exception of January this year). We are now in a position to be able to show our three most forthcoming events on the home page of the website for easy viewing. More events and details can still be seen on the Future Events section. You will see that many of the old functions remain.
A further change is that after many, many years Sally and Wendy have decided to give up running the Club’s very successful Sales Table. We thank them and Joyce for all the time and effort they have put into setting up the table and making it always looking inviting.
For this season it has been decided to have more ‘one off events’ with the now familiar phrase ‘when it’s gone it’s gone’. The club will still be stocking all the basic flower arranging ‘mechanics’ for those members doing church flowers, competitions or simply an arrangement for themselves.
The Committee has also seen some changes. Pat Rhodes who has been the Club Secretary for a good number of years has decided to hand over the reins to Lisette Syree. We thank Pat very much for all her help, support and hard work over the years especially with raising funds for the Club. We also wish Lisette all the best in her new role which so far seems to be going well.
The Club welcomes Catherine Slack to the committee. Catherine has already come with ideas and we are sure she will make a great contribution to the Club. Ann Drake is unable to stand as a Committee member but is helping on a regular basis on Club Nights and is currently seen on the ‘Welcoming Table’ helping Jean and Pauline.
The BFC is a very friendly club open to everyone, new ideas and ways of working. Please pop along to any of our monthly club meetings listed on the website(for which there is a guest fee if you are not a member of the Club) and don’t be afraid to even join us on the Committee.
We hope you enjoy using the website and share with our love of flowers, foliage and friends.
