Minutes of the December 2019 Club Meeting

Minutes of the Meeting of the Bradford Flower Club held on Monday 16th December 2019 at Haworth Road Methodist Church:

Chair opened the meeting with a welcome to members and guests and thanked them for turning out on such a cold evening.

Members were informed that following her fall and pneumonia Jean Clayton had died on the 21st November. Jean had been until recently an active member in the Club and on the Committee for many years looking after the Flower Arranger.

Members were also informed that Brian Clark had died on Saturday night (14th December) Brian had been poorly for a number of years but it was very sad news.

Cards would be sent from the Club to both families.

Sheila Boyes was welcomed back to the club following her husbands death. Chair sad it was lovely to see her back at the club and she was made most welcome.

Members were thanked for supporting the Club in their Christmas regalia and the Fuddle. As always the table looked wonderful with a wide selection of food. Members were invited to stay behind after the meeting to share the food and drink and have a good chat.

Chair hoped members had been able to visit the Sales Table on their way in and see the lovely arrangements and placements that had been created by Committee Members. There was plenty for members to buy or if not provide them with ideas for their own Christmas arrangements.
Sandra and Lisette were available in their Christmas attire to add names to the Club card and take donations.

Members were able to place their orders for the Area Newsletter with Catherine Slack or Jean Lees
and where asked if they were having a spring clean after Christmas any ‘flower bits and pieces’ would be very welcome for the sales table in February.

Chair then introduced the demonstrator for the evening Judy Watker with her title Gin gle Bells. Judy last visit to the club was in 2017 and so she was given a very warm welcome.

After a wonderful demonstration with a total of 10 arrangements and seasonal music, the vote of thanks was given by Jean Lees.

Members were hoped that they all had enjoyed the evening and were asked to join in the fuddle and refreshments and to visit the sales table on their way out.

They were reminded that there would be no meeting in January and on the 17th February the demonstrator would be Janine Grey with her title ‘Playing with Flowers’.

The meeting closed with members being wished a Happy Christmas and all the very best for the New Year and to have a safe journey home.
