A Christmas workshop led by Gerry Sayers on Monday 9th December, starting at 7:30pm, at Allerton Congregational Church, 345 Allerton Road, BD15 7HB. Gerry demonstrated a Christmas wreath and her colleague, Sandra, showed us how to create a beautiful table arrangement. Both members, and our numerous guests, enjoyed making their own creations and, in between, sampling the delicious fuddle, mulled wine and hot drinks. A flower demonstration by Susan Fairhurst on Monday 21st October, starting at 7:30pm, at Allerton Congregational Church, 345 Allerton Road, BD15 7HB. Susan’s demonstration certainly lived up to her title, ‘Creativity’. Her use of recycled and upcycled materials and containers along with the choice of foliage and colours made for beautiful designs.

Carys Harrison – Have Passport, Will TravelCarys’ demonstration was both very entertaining and imaginative. Her first arrangement linked her native Wales with Japan through rugby. After this intriguing start her arrangements evoked visits to China, India and Seoul in South Korea.
The next meeting of the Bradford Flower Club will be on Monday the 15th November at Haworth Road Methodist Church. The meeting will start at 7.30 with a few club Notices . This will be followed by a demonstration from Mrs Ann Simpson. Guest are very welcome on the evening, though there will be a £5 entrance fee. “Gardens to Delight the Senses” Talk by Sarah Hopps Monday 16th March at 7.30pm with refreshments following the demonstration Haworth Road Methodist Church. Sarah gave us wonderful insights into her many plants she had brought to our club night. Guidelines for the 2016 Bradford Flower Club Photographic Competition The competition is open to all Bradford Flower Club members. The entry fee is £1.00 per photograph entered. Photographs may be taken with a film or digital camera. No photograph that has won a NAFAS or Club award may be entered into the competition. No photograph may be entered in more than one class. Saturday 30th January 2016 5 committee members had a busy morning at Haworth Road Methodist Church raising funds for the club. We had a variety of donated goods and practised our skills in bargaining as we got as much as we could out of the shoppers for our goods. We made a total of £50 for club funds and we are considering joining the church later in the year when we will concentrate on selling more flower-related and seasonal items….
National Flower Arranging Day and Lonely Bouquet Day Friday 1st May There’s no better way to say it than with flowers. Our Demonstrators for the Octob er 2012 Club Meeting were Christine Hutchinson and Susie Marsh with their title ‘Mix and Match’. Christine and Susie gave us a splendid evening with wonderful flowers and foliage. They explained the processes of construction and conditioning of plant material as they demonstrated which was very informative. Her helper was Pat Trueman another club member Norma’s first arrangement was produced in a glass bowl with a ‘dreamcatcher’ made of a wire ring wrapped in wool and sisal. Green springs made from kebab sticks wrapped in felt were placed in the centre with apricot carnations, creamy roses, fresias and white chrysanthemums tieried around the springs. The Speaker for the evening was Margaret Peet. Margaret, who is a past NAFAS Area Chair, gave a very interesting and amusing talk on her work as a lifestyle consultant. Since leaving her previous job she has retrained through ‘Colour Me Beautiful’ and now advises on image for her clients. She talked about her size and how a person’s image could be completely changed by the way they dressed and choice of colour themes – skin, hair and clothes.
